Lasnamäe Pavilion
The Lasnamäe Pavillion was opened in October 2022 as the temporary exhibition venue of Tallinn Art Hall for the duration of the renovation of the historical main building on the main square of Tallinn. Lasnamäe Pavillion is built 100% from sustainable wood and is a modular construction from prefabricated elements. It is about 500 m2 and the height of the pavillion varies from 2 to 8 meters. It is possible to take the building apart and transport it to a new location.
The district of Lasnamäe in Tallinn was choosen for the pavillion, as Lasnamäe has the lowest average income of all areas of Tallinn and 75% of the population are from the Russian speaking minority. There are 120 000 people living in Lasnamäe and before the opening of the pavillion the only cultural venu for the district was one movie theater / concert hall with one hall.
The pavillion hosts annually 4-5 five international and/or local contemporary art exhibitions commissioned and produced by Tallinn Art Hall. In the yard there is a community garden where local residents and artists grow flowers and vegetables.
