Friperie / Mobile thrift shop
‘Friperie’ is a public conversation facility based on clothes bartering.
It consists of a mobile unit (gantry bike, computer, printer and textile press) that customises clothes based on images and testimonials taken from the sites where the work is carried out. Visitors swap their clothes for others that have already been personalised, or personalise them directly with us.
This project was carried out between 2005 and 2009 in various locations:
- Royan, as part of ‘Captures#14’, an artistic residency in the port vaults organised by the ‘Echancrures’ association.
- Artigues-près-Bordeaux, as part of the ‘Forum des Territoires’ event organised by the PQA (Pays et Quartiers d'Aquitaine) urban policy resource centre.
- Bordeaux, as part of the inauguration of Passe Muraille, Bruit du frigo's public workshop.
- Marseille, as part of an exhibition devoted to Bruit du frigo at the Bureau des Compétences et Désirs gallery.
- Lille, maison folie de Wazemmes & Moulin, as part of Lille 3000.
- During informal actions in the public space in Bordeaux.
