Akpéromobile
In 2016, in partnership with the town authorities in Latresne, near Bordeaux, the Akpé association designed and built a mobile bar that could be towed by bicycle and used to liven up local festivities.
Built into the aluminium structure, a cool box, furniture and a 1.70 m barbecue can be used to liven up public spaces from time to time. Freely available to local associations and the municipality, the mobile serves as a rallying point for public gatherings, and helps connect the village with its neighbours along the cycle path.
The concept is based on the history of the village, reinterpreting the element of transport wagons: mobile structures, mounted on wheels and pulled by bicycle. In fact, the railway linking the neighbouring villages to Bordeaux has been transformed into a cycle path.
Baptised the ‘Akpéromobile’, this machine was assembled with the help of a number of local actors: materials were collected from individuals and businesses in the region, the structure was built with the help of volunteer skilled workers, and then assembled over a period of several weeks by local secondary school students, curious volunteers and motivated passers-by.
